Nanjing Medical University (NMU) is a prestigious public medical institution in Nanjing, China, with a long history of training medical professionals. It is a popular destination for international students, particularly for its English-taught medical programs. 

History and campuses

Established in 1934 in Zhenjiang as the Jiangsu Provincial College of Health Policy and Management, the university relocated to Nanjing in 1957 and was renamed Nanjing Medical University in 1993. The university has two main campuses: 

  • Wutai Campus: The hub for clinical teaching and research, located in the Gulou District.

Admission requirements for Indian students

  • Academics: For Indian applicants, a minimum of 70% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in 12th grade is generally required. The percentage may vary slightly depending on the board.
  • NEET: A qualifying score in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is mandatory.
  • Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of admission.
  • English proficiency: An English proficiency test such as IELTS or TOEFL is not required for admission to the English-taught MBBS program.
