Cairo University Faculty of Medicine, also known as Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, is a public medical school in Giza, Cairo, Egypt. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in Egypt and the Middle East, established in 1827. 

Medical programs

  • Medical Doctor (MD): The university offers a medical program in English for international students. The program typically spans five years of academic study, followed by a two-year clinical internship.
  • Specializations: The faculty also offers a wide range of postgraduate programs, including specializations in Anesthesia, Cardiology, Public Health, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and more.

  • International recognition: The university and its medical degrees are recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.

Admission requirements for Indian students

  • Academics: Completed 10+2 with a science background (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Some sources state a minimum aggregate of 65% in these subjects, while others indicate 75%.
  • NEET: A qualifying score on the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is mandatory.
  • Age: Must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year. 

Campus and facilities

  • Clinical training: Students gain extensive practical experience at the affiliated Qasr El-Eyni Hospital, which is one of the largest in the Middle East. The hospital has more than 5,200 beds.
  • Hostels: The university offers accommodation for international students, with some sources mentioning furnished dormitories with essential amenities. However, some international students prefer renting private apartments off-campus.
  • Indian food: While the university has a canteen, some international students prefer cooking on their own or exploring nearby restaurants.
  • Modern facilities: The faculty is equipped with modern facilities, including laboratories, research centers, and a large teaching hospital.
